11. Elections in the U.S. will do our people in Puerto Rico no good. All these candidates represent the financial interest of the enemy in Puerto Rico, who want to continue maintaining a tight grip on the very profitable “plantation system” in Puerto Rico. It’s ironic how the mighty and powerful U.S. can’t get enough of sucking on the tit of little ol’ Puerto Rico while continuing to perpetuate the myth that Puerto Ricans want to eat away at U.S. benefits. With that being said, I recall hearing Mr. Denis suggest, in an interview, that Puerto Ricans on the island, had to get back to basics and return to the use of the land as a source of sustenance. I agree. Our people on the island need to return to their agrarian roots of living off the land as our grandparents and great-grandparents once did. Instead of making the enemy rich, we need to gradually develop our own agricultural industries and support home grown goods. Puerto Ricans have nothing in common with all those junk food franchises littered all over the island that serve to undermine one of our own natural resource, which is the selling of our comida tipica using home grown products. I believe in our people. We are a resilient people. Inspite of the size and strength of the enemy and their assault on us, we are still here standing tall as a Puerto Rican people. We need to get back to the ways of our elders, who were always kind and generous to one another with that spirit of community. I recall the many instances in conversations with my black American brothers, how they would in admiration, point out how the fraternal spirit that was always present among us. It seems to me that as a people, at least here in NYC, we have been sucked into the western culture of individualism, which is not natural to us. Individualism is not in the Puerto Rican DNA. Our elders were always family and community oriented. They were always generous and shared what they had. In that same fraternal spirit of community, we need to develop our own industries and “support them.” All prosperous groups do just that. The insidious U.S. colonial economic policies that serve to promote the collective interest of those U.S. and foreign businesses operating in Puerto Rico, do so in a similar fraternal spirit. We need to get back to basics and focus on developing the agriculture on island, foster its development, consume home grown products, and protect the industry ensuring that it stays in Puerto Rican hands. We have to be smart consumers, who support and protect our industries. In order to have an effect in electoral politics, our economics has to be in order. The electoral process in the United States is influenced by those who have money to buy it. Protesting and marching is but a tool to effect change, but the most integral tool in electoral politics is to be master of our own economics where we can purchase political power as the powerful do and use our economic power to establish institutions that will protect our interest against those who dare encroach on our interest.

13. Mr. Denis has expressed sentiments shared by the general public. In the case of Puerto Rico there still exists a nightmare scenario. No matter the outcome its fate appears sealed. The confusion may have an even darker side to it. D.N. (Third Party)

14. Good clarification that not all of them are Trump supporters, but I still find this article misleading…

    It’s not the Trump’s GOP Convention, it’s the GOP Convention, where the majority of delegates selected Trump as the GOP nominee. That’s how democracy works, at least here in the United States. I believe that all political views should be respected, since no political party, Democrat or Republican, has the perfect answer or plan for their country.

    I hope that you will post another article like this, as misleading as this one, at the “Hillary’s” Democratic Convention, with a picture of all delegates from Puerto Rico.

    Bloggers are part of the media, and media SHOULD NOT BE BIASED.

17. Who do we as Puerto Ricans that have the right to vote, vote for? Trump has said rasist things against Mexicans and Muslims. Clinton is supported and bought out by Wall Street, the very people that I have learned from your book is Puerto ricos biggest enemy. I’m not criticizing you I’m sincerely asking you who do I vote for.
