With 7 Grammy Awards and 47 Grammy nominations, Isidro Infante is an established international artist. His music catalogue includes over 2,500 arrangements and he has worked with Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Dizzy Gillespie, Hector Lavoe, Gloria Estefan, Stevie Wonder, the Fania All-Stars, and dozens of other renowned artists.
And now, on March 17, Infante will release his latest work…Cuba y Puerto Rico: Un Abrazo Musical Salsero.
With 13 songs and 15 singers, the album features updated versions of classic salsa tracks. It is a fascinating concept: Puerto Rican musicians. Cuban vocal artists. All working together to create an “abrazo musical salsero.”
A complete cultural collaboration.
The project is also designed to strengthen the bonds between the two islands, through the shared reverence and celebration of their music.
The album will be available broadly. We look forward to playing this album and dancing to it, again and again.
We will also blast it at full volume, and throw the mother of all parties, when the US Financial Control Board gets the hell out of Puerto Rico.
And when the Control Board is gone for good, we will enjoy the island that God gave us…and listen to the mastery of Isidro on piano pieces such as this one. Just check him out from 3:04 to 4:50.
THAT is Isidro Infante.
