Obama releases a record number of prisoners…minus Oscar López Rivera

Last month, Pres. Barack Obama commuted 98 prison sentences in one day.

As of December 2016, Obama has commuted the sentences of more than 1,000 people in prison for drug crimes – 1,023, to be exact. This is more than the past 11 presidents all combined.

Although a third of these commutations have been for people serving life sentences, the average time served for all the prisoners is roughly16 years.

Obama has now passed the previous record holder – Woodrow Wilson – and has now commuted more sentences than any other president in US history.

The White House was quick to announce this with a recent tweet. That big blue line at the top is Barack Obama.

Nearly every Obama commutation involved “non-violent drug offenders.” Oscar Lopez Rivera is a non-violent believer in independence…so where is his commutation?

OBAMA HAS A LOT OF BREATHING ROOM

According to Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, this high volume of executive clemency will continue through the end of his term…so quite possibly, Obama might free hundreds more prisoners.

According to criminal sentencing experts, Obama has a great degree of latitude in this area, for two main reasons:

  1. his job approval ratings are solid, despite the Hillary Clinton disaster
  2. both parties have called for a criminal justice overhaul, because prisons are expensive

Deputy Attorney General Yates affirmed this second point, stating that “when we keep people in prison for longer than is necessary for public-safety purposes, we are diverting precious resources away from that—away from prosecutors and agents, and critical prevention programs as well.”

Even the conservative Christian Science Monitor noted that: “This push is part of a larger trend in prison reform that has garnered support across the political spectrum as lawmakers take stock of the financial and societal costs of mass incarceration.”

Which leads to one great question…what about Oscar López Rivera?

With all this breathing room and executive latitude, Obama should extend some of that “latitude” to Oscar López Rivera.

Nearly every Obama commutation involved “non-violent drug offenders.” Oscar López Rivera is a non-violent believer in independence…so where is his commutation?

Oscar was not convicted of any violent crimes, but rather of “seditious conspiracy against the United States.” While others were imprisoned for selling cocaine, Oscar was imprisoned for an idea.

Obama should have a double standard: where he beatifies Nelson Mandela as “liberator,” and belittles Oscar as a “terrorist.”

As Obama breaks all records for presidential mercy, there is still one great missing element…mercy for Oscar López Rivera.

    Never mind who I voted for…did you vote for the 2-term sell-out uncle Tom that has ignored EIGHT years of supplications from Lopez-Rivera’s family, friends and Islanders who have begged him to release this elderly gentleman. Meanwhile, Barry Soetoro is allowing drug-dealers, kiddy-sex-traffickers and Blah-Lives-Matter thugs to leave prison only to RE-OFFEND and kill more people within days of being released? I think THAT is the more germane question here!

  2. This is not a surprise to me. Mr. Lopez Rivera will not be pardoned. You see Democrats have always taken our support for granted. Latino concerns are not a priority. We are 2nd class citizens. We need to re-evaulate our political prefrences or choices. To Democrats, latino lives do not matter as much as others.

    If the last EIGHT years have not made it clear, let me cite the glaringly OBVIOUS re. the still “president’s” indifference to Lopez-Rivera’s situation.

    Barry Soetoro (Obama’s former Indonesian Mulsim name) is focused on:

    1. Getting as many ILLEGALS as possible into the country or detention centers because he KNOWS that they will be using their FAKE IDs to vote in the 2020 election, like many did in this past election. And the more ILLEGALS are causing crime problems, the happier Barry will be.

    2. Releasing as many “Blah-Lives-Matter” thugs out of prison because he KNOWS that once on the streets again, THEY will return to their community-disrupting behaviors like dealing drugs, theft, pimping innocent girls and fomenting more civic unrest, criminal behavior and causing REAL on-the-ground problems for police all over the US with the FULL intention of making Trump’s first presidency look very bad and very difficult.

    3. Opening the doors for all PHONY jail-house-converted “Mooslims” who couldn’t find the Middle East without a GOOGLEMAP search. Why? Because AGAIN, he knows they will be easily inducted into the ranks of BLM low-lifes and RABID “Mooslim” anti-America, anti-Christian, anti-police, anti-law-and-order thugs just waiting to burn-down the next neighborhood or Wal-Mart.

    4. Facilitating LOTS MORE insane Muslim “refugees” as possible entering the US…the newspapers and the internet RIGHT NOW are rife with the stories of the THOUSANDS of these Sharia-loving, women-abusing, child-raping, gay-killing, “Infidel” bombing, “Infidel” slaughtering “Religion-of-Peace” monsters who HE KNOWS will be acting-out with their rice-cooker bombs at public events, like marathongs, their AK-47s at Christmas parties (that “offend” them), stabbing of college students walking to class to make even more problems for the US and of course for Trump as well.

    So you see, a dignified, decent man of principle and humane-concern for his people like Lopez-Rivera is NOT a priority for “psychotic-I’m-gonna-get-you-suckah” Barry, who has only one goal left…to STICK-IT to honkey before he HIMSELF is swept out of the White House with the empty KFC buckets and worn-out rapper CDs.

  8. Oscar lopez Rivera the Vietnam veteran who fought for the liberty of the United States of America but was incarcerated for the liberty of Puerto Rico. As you can see liberty stands for one country only. Puerto Rico is incarcerated with that 72 billion dollar debt. The Native American Indian isn’t doing any better. Money hungry war mongers run this world. I predict these money hungry war mongers wil someday hit a brick wall and say what the heck just happened?
