The final gubernatorial debate was held in Puerto Rico, on October 26.
Six candidates spoke about government corruption, the fiscal crisis, Wall Street, unemployment, education, and the independence of Puerto Rico. A detailed coverage of that debate, with video clips from every candidate, can be seen right here…
It remains to be seen, if the next governor of Puerto Rico will be able to “govern” at all.
With a Financial Control Board running the entire economy, and a Jones Act dictating all trade relations, consumer prices and shipping policies, the next governor will have a narrow range of authority…if any.
Of all six candidates, the only one that makes sense is Senator Maria de Lourdes Santiago.
She is clear-minded, has strong legislative experience (which none of the other five possess), and has a laser-sharp understanding of the one greatest issue:
That Puerto Rico is being strangled by a Gourdian knot.
That it must become independent of the US.
Before the last bones of the island are sucked dry, and another million Puerto Ricans are forced to leave their homeland.
For a history of the War Against All Puerto Ricans, read the book…

RESPONSE FOR VICTOR 11/1/2016:
Victor, re-read what I wrote. Maybe you’ll get a new understanding. Meaning, you really agreed w/me. For some wacky reason, you didn’t. I think that’s part of the problem. Not completely reading the blog, or something else..

I disagree with you. I feel that the best candidate is Alexandra Lùgaro because she has a plan that goes beyon PR status. It really doesn’t matter at this point what status we want if we don’t have an economic plan that will put us on the road to self reliance. IF YOU DON’T HAVE THE BEST SYSTEM IN PLACE ( ARGUABLY: THAT OF AN INDEPENDENT ONE ); IT DOESN’T MATTER WHO THE NEW LEADER ( GOVERNOR ) MIGHT BE. THEY’LL BE HAMSTRUNG JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE THAT CAME BEFORE THEM. ANY POLITICIAN CAN PROFESS/PROMISE ANY “PLAN.” HOW MANY TIMES HAS THAT HAPPENED UNDER THE CURRENT SYSTEM OF GOVERNANCE ON THE ISLAND? “0”. SELF-RELIANCE WILL ONLY BECOME A REALITY WHEN THE ISLANDERS HAVE MUCH MORE CONTROL OVER HOW THINGS GET DONE/THEIR AFFAIRS. WHY WOULDN’T HAVE THE U.S. ELITES WANTED SELF-RELIANCE FOR THE ISLANDERS THROUGHOUT ALL THIS TIME? SINCE 1898? GET THE PICTURE? Before we choose any status we need be self reliance. Let’s fortified and grow our economy first. WE AGREE. BUT, IN REVERSE. YOU’RE PUTTING THE CART BEFORE THE HORSE. AND LIKE MANY OTHER PR’S THAT DON’T WANT TO ADMIT IT: “YOU CAN’T HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT TOO.” IF YOU DO, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS LOOK BACK ON THE LAST 118 YRS TO SEE WHAT YOU GET, WHEN SOMETHING “PROMISED” TO YOU SEEMS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE. YOU GET WHAT YOU DESERVE. IT’S NOT WANT YOU WANT TO HEAR IS IT? BUT, IT’S THE REALITY. AND, IF THE ISLANDERS REFUSE TO GET REAL, ALLI SE QUEDAN. ENCABRONADOS.

Please Nelson DO NOT CHANGE the name of the “PROMESA” BOARD. The RIGHT NAME, and YOU KNOW IT, is “FINANCIAL SUPERVISORY BOARD” . For you information “Control” and “Supervision” ARE TWO (2) different things.

A vote for governor of Puerto Rico is as significant as a mosquito “peo” in a typhoon.
Voting for American Idol is more significant.
Time to get back to FaceBook selfies and other more important endeavors, like more banderita-waving and J-Low worshipping.
