El Yunque and Vieques may be sold to private developers in Puerto Rico
El Yunque is a protected natural resource in Puerto Rico.
But the US Secretary of the Interior, Sally Jewell, has warned that the island’s “protected natural resources,” including El Yunque and major sections of Vieques, will be “targeted for private development” by the US Financial Control Board (FCB).
If this is the case, then WHY did the White House urge the passage of PROMESA? This PROMESA is looking more like a Trojan Horse…
On April 1, 2016, during a brief island visit, Jewell wasted no time in blaming “Republican” FCB legislation – the PROMESA bill – for the looming turnover of public land to private developers, on a very major scale, in Puerto Rico.
Was this an April fool joke?
It would appear so…because three months later, the entire Obama administration lobbied feverishly on behalf of the PROMESA bill which created the FCB.
This lobbying occurred after a full year of presidential and congressional inaction on Chapter 9 reform for Puerto Rico.
THE SALE OF VIEQUES AND EL YUNQUE
The selling-off of public land by the FCB may happen very quickly…because it is specifically authorized by the PROMESA bill.
Sections 406, 501(2), 503, and 504 of the PROMESA bill signed by Pres. Obama create the authority – and stipulate the procedure – for the transfer of any public lands in Puerto Rico. These lands would then be immediately eligible for sale and “private development.”

PROMESA supporters call this sale of cherished public lands – such as El Yunque and Vieques Wildlife – a “remote” possibility. But a key congressman is already demanding the sale and “private development” of 3,100 acres of prime beachfront property.
Which beachfront is this?
It is the Vieques National Wildlife Preserve…the fourth most popular wildlife preserve in the US.
Which congressman is this?
It is Robert Bishop (GOP – Utah)…Chairman of the House Committee on Natural Resources.
This committee wrote the PROMESA legislation, conducted the public hearings on it, and has federal jurisdiction over all public land disposition in Vieques, Culebra, El Yunque…and all of Puerto Rico.

I suppose that Congress feel that since they purchases the island for $18 million from Spain that could sell the Island to anyone who wants to by it. I have said it before that the people of Puerto Rico that think that they are American Citizen well they are not, They are Slaves of American,The people were also Parches along with the Island and as long as congress has control Puerto Rico will never be a State and will not have their Independence. Congress is the one that holds the purse on Puerto Rico. Don’t think that Congress is not making money from the Stock Market Banks, Well one hand washes the other hand and its Legal, The previous gov’t of Puerto Rico made sure of that by making millions then and are still making money that they stole. Know the people of Puerto Rico are really slaves for the next 50 Years so you can bet your bottom dollar on that. I am surprises that they have not sold yet to the highest bidder Like the Russians or China. But that does not mine that Mr. Trump will buy it in the behave of the Russians. America the Grate… (HUM BUG.) and if does buy think about all the Casinos and Hotel he will built along with the gulf courses. Tourism will be 10 foul on the island with all the people working slaves for peanuts.. You can take that to the Bank or should I say the Stock Market. Won’t that be beautiful for America Land of the FREE and as the American currency says ( IN GOD WE TRUST). Pleas keep this reply in your favorite’s. Who knows you might get a chance to make money on Mr. Trumps Casinos in Puerto Rico. As much as I do not want to see something like this happen, I am a realist! And although I live in the United States right now, Puerto Rico will always be in my heart. However, living in the U.S. as a citizen comes with the advantage of knowing all-too-well what this country’s government is capable of doing. I live in a country that was initially stolen from its indigenous people and where other, similarly concerning and tragic events, continued all throughout the history of this “great” nation. So then, given these facts, why would I believe that the trend and tradition of raping and stealing would stop now? Look, this is what the United States does time after time; plain and simple! It looks to deplete a host country’s resources and move on when there is nothing left…yes, like a virus! So, even though this article, and many involved, believe that there is a “remote” possibility of this happening, you better be prepared, this is going to happen!

This is a DISGRACE! El Yunque is a NATIONAL park, belonging to ALL Americans, and may I also point out that Puerto Ricans ARE American citizens. It would be totally destroyed by developers, as everyone knows. As for my beloved Vieques, this island is where people LIVE, NOT a monopoly game board!! Hasn’t it suffered enough?

Okay, what is my people doing about all of this? Only a small percent want independence for the island, most likely because of the torture they were submitted to by this hypocritical bully and are scared to go at it alone after so many years. If the politicians there are corrupt, why do the people keep voting for them? I live in the state of New York, what can I do to help? Somebody or Mr. Denis please talk to me.

THAT is who is responsible for the demise of the Puerto Rican economy. The very politicians who are supposed to represent and defend the people and the island. They have been selling them out for decades. That’s why beef is so expensive in a place where many farmers had cows. It’s why they have to overpay for bananas from Central America for bananas, other fruit and vegetables that once grew and we’re sold all over the island. So if farmers are not being paid for these goods, then who’s decision was it to buy from abroad what can be produced all over the island ? One of the UN’s primary purpose is “promoting and encouraging respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms for all without distinction as to race, sex, language or religion”,and member states pledge to undertake “joint and separate action” to protect these right. .Puerto Rico was excluded from Chapter 9 Bankruptcy…are they also excluded from the United Nations primary purpose of encouraging respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms for all without distinction as to race, sex, language or religion? so far they haven’t lifted up a finger to help Puerto Rico’s plight. Puerto Rico belongs to Puerto Ricans. In simple terms the U.S. Is doing the same thing the Germans did to the Jews in Germany there kicking them out. If they refuse to leave will there be a Genocide of a people? The plight continues.

The natives land being sold to people who already own their own country, killing of the native, and building a cancer research center trial development that went up on April 2016. Yesterday Biden announced there was an aggressive progressive plan on finding the cute for cancer for Americans, it is ALL happening so quick right before the secrets of consensus agreements against the people of Puerto Rico, like a private executive order veto against the people of Puerto Rico. Kind of brings you to the era of private mutual consensus slavery in AMERICA, it was a private veto to decimate and enslave a targeted group. ALL these ppl buying lands already come from their own country, yet they’re so adamant about buying, no stealing the land that rightfully belongs to Puerto Ricans, and should have been a country of its own since 1898. The people of Puerto Rico will not only be ppl without a country, they will be slaves to America and the thieves selling and buying it off. O read an article where African Americans blamed Puerto Rican for slavery because they thought Puerto Rican were “Spanish” since before the 1960’s, they were not even aware the Puerto Rican were actually slaves themselves to the Spanish, and America as well. Did you know that prior to the civil rights even African Americans have discriminated and tyrannically controlled and oppressed persecuted the Puerto Rican people? Yes, because they believed this whole time Puerto Rican were the Spanish slave owners who sold slaves to America, therefore; without knowledge of their own – Puerto Rican have been beyond the targets of many injustices. Yes, the African Americans even thought at one point Christopher Columbus was Spanish, no, he was Italian, while Puerto Rican and the world were actually taught to honor this genocidal man. The Puerto Rican history was intentionally not taught in depth in America to make them a sacrifice to carry many blamed they are not responsible for, if anything slaves under Spanish, America, and now history repeats itself-poor Puerto Rico.
