Presidential debate moderators scarcely ask questions about Puerto Rico

Book - 12-10

The journalists who moderate the televised presidential primary debates have ignored Puerto Rico.

It has been the subject of only one in more than 1,000 questions asked during the 21 debates.

The words “Puerto Rico” have been uttered only 12 times, out of more than 440,000 words spoken during the debates.

10 of those 12 occurred when Sen. Marco Rubio answered the one and only question ever asked about Puerto Rico.

According to Marco Rubio, Luis Fortuño is a great “reformer” even though he “borrowed” and spent NINE BILLION DOLLARS (mostly for his family and friends) that to this day is still unaccounted for.

Here is a video of Sen. Rubio’s response:

All of this is sad but unsurprising. 90% of the world’s media are owned by five corporations.

This includes the TV networks, cable TV and dish providers, radio stations, movie studios, record companies, internet news sites, newspapers, magazines, and book publishers.

Unfortunately these televised debates, and a recent video by late-night comedian John Oliver, are the principal means through which the general US population has learned anything about Puerto Rico.

Yesterday – May 2, 2016 – Puerto Rico defaulted on a bond payment of $422 million. The Government Development Bank (GDB) has no money. The Commonwealth is bankrupt.   As Puerto Rico suffers through its greatest economic crisis since the Great Depression, the least the US media could do, is cover this crisis with fair and accurate information.

If history is any indicator, this coverage will not occur.

  1. Blue Mountain Capital holds $400 million bonds on PREPA, Puerto Rico Electrical Power Company. Blue Mountain has been the must aggressive. They hired lobbyist to combat the Puerto Rico chapter 9 uniformity act and against Puerto Rico to restructure its debt.
The founders of Blue Mountain Capital is Andrew Feldstein a former Harvard classmate of Barack Obama who contributed to his campaign and Stephen Siderow. Stephen Siderow served on the board of ARS NOVA, a non profit theatre company in New York’s Hells Kitchen. He is a backer of successful Broadway Shows.
It is believed, wish to confirmed!!???
It is said in newspaper and internet articles that the commercials came from 60 Plus through DC I GROUP, a Republican public relations firm…. It is believed that one of the clients of DCI Group is Blue Mountain Capital.

  2. Andrew Herenstein of “Monarch Capital” supports Marco Rubio and gave him a nice party!!
The Koch Brothers have raised almost $880 millions in support of Republican Candidates for the 2016 elections. The Koch Brothers are against global warming. They do not believe it exists. They have influenced members of Congress to vote against climate change legislation. This concerns me about Puerto Rico, our beautiful island, Vieques, etc.
    Will the Treasury Department Intervention!???
Or are they also influence. Do Hedge Funds have ties with the Federal Reserve Official????

  5. About Marco Rubio he is not trust worthy.
The Vulture Hedge Fund, Paul Singer made billions from Argentina debt crisis and supports Marco Rubio, republican.
This man Paul Singer is more powerful than the Koch Brothers. He gives money to the Republican party and is a ruthless hedge fund vulture. He acquires the debts of dying companies, even countries, etc. He influence the elections of Presidents, especially Argentina. He is called a “Financial Terrorists”. He has been trying to do the same thing in the US election 2016.

  6. So much for the:
“America Takes Care of its Citizens” Propaganda (Unless that catch phrase is endeared towards Euro descendants, as it appears it does).

I hope Puerto Ricans have finally awakened to the reality that Our Imperialist overlords never cared about our best interest, but only their own in every policy relating to us. It’s time for independence and sovereignty, and enough with the pessimistic doubting of self reliance without the real imperial Daddy Yankee dictating what we can and can’t do with respects to trade and the tyrannical control measures like the Jones Act. The policy that inhibits our God given right to self sustain and engage in a natural shipping business that could elevate our sovereign prowess. Naturally positioned in a spot within the Caribbean that could become a massive industrial boom for the Islands economy.
Pero se ve que quieren que suigamo chupando la teta de la bestia para sobre vivir.

MEDIA SILENCE …. “Yesterday – May 2, 2016 – Puerto Rico defaulted on a bond payment of $422 million. The Government Development Bank (GDB) has no money. The Commonwealth is bankrupt. Meanwhile, 3.5 million American citizens, who have served in the US military (many given their lives), citizens who pay taxes, citizens who are main consumers of American goods – fast food chains, Walmart, citizens who say the pledge of allegiance, citizens who have given much for the “Master” … are totally ignored. Sounds familiar??
Yet, politicians go to Puerto Rico during their campaigns and gladly bring “donations”back to the mainland. There’s nothing there to take in a moral way. Now use subterfuge and underhanded tricks. Doesn’t matter … “after all it’s only Chinatown”!!
