29. A mi me encanta hablar mi espanol. Pero a veces si estoy en un grupo y la mayoria de las personas son Americanas yo hablo Ingles para no hacer sentir a esas personas mal. Se hace por cortesia. Me acuerdo cuando mi mama vivia en Michigan, una cajera…le dijo a mi mama q hablara..Ingles porque ella estaba en Los Estados Unidos. Mi mama la insulto. Yo me quede callada para evitar problemas ya q en ese entonces yo estaba en el Army, y hay q mantener la disciplina.. 24 hrs.. Hay mucho racismo y siempre lo ha existido…Y nunca va a acabar. It’s sad for what happened here, I was in the Army in1968, when a soldier came to my locker door, and saw my Puerto Rican Flag, he said “Why are you having that flag there, take it down or I will take it down, you are in the United States Army”. I told the guy, “You touch that flag, and I will swear to God, I will rip you apart”. The point is, we all have our heritage, Chinese, French, Mexican, Puerto Rican, all these countries faught in the same war VIETNAM, and all of them were, under the United States Army. Where ever I go, I don’t say I’m American, even though I was born in Bronx New York, I always say, with pride I am Puerto Rican. The only thing I can say, is “May God have mercy, on his soul”
