U.S. Latinos buy TWICE as many movie tickets as blacks
According to the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), Latino moviegoers in the U.S. buy twice as many movie tickets as black moviegoers. All across America, twice as many Latinos line up at the the movie box office, as do African-Americans.
Based on this stunning statistic, it is LATINOS who should be boycotting the Academy Awards. If anyone is invisible and under-represented in US film and television, it is LATINOS.
Here are the MPAA Statistics:
In 2012, Latinos purchased 26% of all movie tickets in the US, compared to 11% for African-Americans.

In 2013, Latinos purchased 25% of all movie tickets in the US, compared to 13% for African-Americans.

In 2014, Latinos purchased 23% of all movie tickets in the US, compared to 12% for African-Americans.

Across the entire three-year period (2012, 2013, 2014) the average level of annual attendance was 12% by blacks and 24.66% by Latinos…in other words, twice as many Latino moviegoers, over the entire three-year period.
Now in 2016, there not only more Latinos in the U.S. than there are blacks. There are more Latinos (55 million) than there are senior citizens (42 million) !
We need Latino studio executives, agents, and Latino directors and producers. Then and only then, will our stories be properly told.
Until that day arrives, we will continue paying our money, and being insulted, by “Latino” projects” such as these:
