The Juan Gonzalez lecture on Puerto Rico

War Against All Puerto Ricans: Revolution and Terror in America’s Colony

At New York University on October 21, 2015, journalist Juan Gonzalez provided a master lesson on Puerto Rican history and economics.

Thoughtful and well-researched, his lecture provided an excellent summary of the deepening crisis on the island. Here is the entire lecture:

I disagree with Mr. Gonzalez about “enhanced commonwealth” as a viable solution for Puerto Rico. Sovereignty is the only solution…without the Jones Act, without a Financial Control Board, or Wall Street or hedge funds, or the U.S. Congress breathing down the island’s neck.

But regardless of this one disagreement, this presentation by Juan Gonzalez is one of the most thorough and cogent that I have seen, on the bitter past and present of Puerto Rico.

For a history of the War Against All Puerto Ricans, read the book…

  4. An excellent presentation by Mr. Gonzalez..
His book also “Harvest of Empire”, also excellent. Even though I also find Puerto Rico should be sovereign.
