Financial Control Board for Puerto Rico…YES or NO?

War Against All Puerto Ricans: Revolution and Terror in America’s Colony

I believe that a Financial Control Board will be a disaster for Puerto Rico…that at best, it will be nothing but a collection agency for hedge funds and private equity firms; and at worst, it will implement the most dangerous aspects of the Krueger Report, and kill the entire island while it sleeps.

Yet several people, whose opinion I greatly respect, are convinced that a Financial Control Board is exactly what the island needs…that the Control Board will bring some order and justice to Puerto Rico.

And so we are taking a poll here.

If you have an opinion on this, please write YES or NO to a Financial Control Board.

Then feel free to comment in any way, as to why you voted YES or NO.

  2. Also It was the Politician from Washington DC that removed, in the first place the Bankruptcy Protection law from Puerto Rico putting us in this vulerable situation today. These same Politicians from Washington DC do not know why the Bankruptcy Law was removed and who did it. How does the USA government remove a bankruptcy law and does not know who did it. That does not make sense.
Puerto Rico must take a hold of their own destiny. We are the ones to do it.
    No, to financial control board.

  3. It is We the Puerto Ricans People that must take a hold of our own destiny-
Have we gotten used to being told what to do, that we lost our sense of being-
Do we need others to make serious decisions for us.
What kind of game are we playing here, Sirs?!
    We are not children!
    Our house is on fire!
It is how we face crisis that we show our maturity as a race and as a people.
Do we need Politicians? A government can be run by computers, impersonal and not people-
But when your house is on fire, you take action! When you are in danger, you act. There is no hesitation, no arguments, no analysis, no personal opinions, just immediate action-
Our House is on Fire! We must take a hold of our own destiny. We the Puerto Rican people are the one to do it.
    No, Financial Control Board.

  4. Before anything is fixed it must be broken. I believe PR is at a turning point, finally. The control board i believe will simply finalize what has been transpiring all these decades. Maybe once they’ve totally invested into the island it will be converted into a state. Its the simple satire of the indecisiveness from the elected officials representing the interests of the people. We’re as much an experiment as USA continues to be. God have mercy on all of us.

  5. A control board from the U.S. NOT the answer because it there to attend the interest of the island corp. foreign investors and not the people of Puerto Rico. And who will be held accountable the actions or decision of this board when it makes laws or policy hurt the fundamental right of the people of Puerto Rico. And it still DOES NOT help in developing the islands economy. Heck the U.S. SHOULD HAVE ONE IN CONGRESS WITH THE NATIONAL DEPT IT HAS. What should be regulated in the amount of money or involvement of U.S. corp. have in the politics of the island so that can make laws without special interest groups getting in the way of the island political decision making.

  7. Yes….because the people who got us into this mess cannot get us out of it. There is no political will to make the hard decisions…the corruption is rampant…the property tax system is a joke. We need a third party to come down here and straighten it out and show them how it’s done. When 25% of the people work for the government and roughly 20% of the available work force is on disability, there is a problem of epic proportions. Our legislators are some of the highest paid in the states! The inefficiency and the incompetence is breathtaking on every level. It has got to stop!

  8. Having grown up in PR and dealing with the local gov’t administration I don’t think this would help until we have a revamp of the local government and the US imposes a mandatory accounting of the finances provided to PR by they US federal gov’t. My answer is NO!

  9. No. As long as the United States keeps that sham law, sec 27 of the merchant marine act (Jone’s Act) prohibiting Puerto Rico from developing it’s own shipping industry, and 96 years of paying 15-20 percent more for every consumer product than people on the United States mainland. That law just keeps Puerto Rico in an abyss of shame. If that law doesn’t change then Puerto Rico will always be in debt. 117 years of rhetoric from the United States and Puerto Rico still can’t get those leeches off their back. I hate to say this, but keep sleeping.

  10. MIKE : They can get this representation by voting to become a state and nothing otherwise. Some kind of board needs to regulate matters more constructively but I understand the strangulation of PR may not be from government policies but by the megacorps and megabanks which also strangle the US working class as well. The future of PR and US as a whole seems no longer in the hands of the people.

  13. yes…since the politicians are the proxies for the lobbyists/special interests….why not deal(hand it over) directly to them…the PR government is powerless since there’s no real (legitimate) representation in the U. S. Congress where the budget and decisions regarding allocation of resources are made. PR needs 2 senators and a handful of real representatives in DC…w/o a vote for the Presidency Puerto Ricans are not equal in any sense of the word…not in the courts or at the table where the goods are allocated and distributed…Congress…
