It has been an exciting year for the author and publishers of War Against All Puerto Ricans.
After an enormous initial reception, both in Puerto Rico and the mainland, the book was embraced by the Puerto Rico Independence Party (PIP) who took it on an island-wide tour.
The Nationalist Party of Puerto Rico also staged a standing-room-only event in the Ateneo Puertorriqueño in San Juan.
The book also toured through New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Orlando, Miami, Boston, Philadelphia, Hartford, Holyoke, and sixteen other cities. In New York City alone, over 30 speaking events were created for the book, and more are scheduled for 2016.
Labor unions supported the book with speaking events before the Teamsters, DC 37, TWU, SEIU Local 32BJ, and LCLAA.
Nine universities hosted the book in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Puerto Rico.
The media took notice: with articles in New York Times, New York Daily News, Washington Times Book Review, Mother Jones, Truthout, Latino Rebels, Long Island Press, and a three-part series in El Nuevo Dia, the largest newspaper in Puerto Rico. The book also appeared on ABC TV, C-SPAN, MSNBC, New York 1, CUNY TV, WNPR, WGBH, WBAI, the Brian Lehrer Show, and dozens of other TV and radio outlets.
The book was an Amazon #1 Best Seller for eight months, with a “Five Star” rating and over 230 customer reviews. The Spanish-language translation Guerra Contra Todos Los Puertorriqueños is now an Amazon #1 Best Seller, as well.
We want to thank everyone for reading and sharing War Against All Puerto Ricans. During these difficult times on our island – which are probably going to get worse – this history is more important than ever.
Going forward into 2016, we would like to share an op ed from the New York Times and “30 Quotes” from the book, as selected and published by Goodreads:
