The Arecibo Observatory is a radio telescope in the municipality of Arecibo, Puerto Rico.
At 1,000 feet in diameter, its radio telescope is the world’s largest single-aperture telescope.
In popular culture, the observatory was prominently featured in Carl Sagan’s Cosmos TV series, and in the movie Contact.
