Kick Albizu Campos in the teeth, then honeymoon in Paris

War Against All Puerto Ricans: Revolution and Terror in America’s Colony

The United States of America has become the United Sociopaths of America. People lie, cheat, bully and betray each other, usually for money or status or sex.

But a fellow named Luis Ferrao reached a new low by kicking a dead man in the teeth – Don Pedro Albizu Campos – in order to launch his own career.

In 1990, on the 25th anniversary of Albizu’s death, Ferrao commemorated it with a Ph.D. thesis and a book which declared Don Pedro to be a “fascist.” Ferrao then enjoyed a two-year fellowship to Paris, paid by the government of Puerto Rico.

Now 25 years later, Ferrao commemorates the 50th anniversary of Don Pedro’s death by pulling the same wretched stunt: he joins the War against all Puerto Ricans by attacking the book which reports it.

Don Pedro was not a fascist. He was a patriot and a humanist of the highest order. He spoke six languages and spent 25 years in prison for his beliefs.

In defending Don Pedro and my book, I wrote two responses to Ferrao’s screed. The University of Puerto Rico published both of them, through their Diálogo publication.

Here is the first response:

Tomorrow I will provide you the second one.
