The world will miss Yogi Berra.
There will be no other like him. He was an honest man, a great role model, and his Yogi-isms contain some of mankind’s greatest wisdom.
The world according to Yogi should be taught in every university.
But there is something more…
Yogi visited Puerto Rico very often. He even has a golf hole named after him: the sixth at Royal Isabela in Puerto Rico. In fact, a quick review of the Yogi philosophy, shows that he had a unique understanding of Puerto Rico.
The following words show how well Yogi Berra understood the Puerto Rican character, and Puerto Rican politics.
“The future ain’t what it used to be.”
No it isn’t. Not since 1898.
“All pitchers are liars or crybabies.”
So is every Governor of Puerto Rico, for the past 70 years.
“You’ve got to be very careful if you don’t know where you are going, because you might not get there.”
Unfortunately, no one told this to the PPD or PNP. So now we owe $73 billion.
“It was impossible to get a conversation going, everybody was talking too much.”
Yogi was describing the Puerto Rico Senate.
“I never said most of the things I said.”
Yogi was describing every politician in Puerto Rico…except Maria de Lourdes Santiago and Juan Dalmau.
“The towels were so thick there I could hardly close my suitcase.”
Oops…I’m sorry, Yogi didn’t say this one.
It was Pedro Pierluisi, describing the Watergate Hotel.
