No, the New York Yankees are not cutting Carlos Beltran. The NYPD is not waging a stop & frisk assault, or issuing more parking tickets. This is another war.
Tomorrow (Sunday June 7) from 3 to 4 pm, Julio Pabón brings WAR AGAINST ALL PUERTO RICANS into his home…at Mi Casa, Tu Casa, located at143 East 150 Street (just off Grand Concourse, one block north of the “6” IRT subway stop).
The book presentation will focus on the people in War Against All Puerto Ricans: the patriot Pedro Albizu Campos, who sacrificed his entire life for the cause of independence; the politician Luis Muñoz Marín, who unleashed the FBI on the entire island; the barber Vidal Santiago Díaz, who fought off 40 policemen and National Guard soldiers, all by himself, in the gunfight of Salón Boricua; the OSS agent Waller Booth, who became legendary during Operation Portrex…
All of these and more will be discussed, and a book signing will follow.
Mi Casa, Tu Casa is a beautiful bed & breakfast with five guest rooms, an open kitchen, and one of the most beautiful trees in the Bronx. Julio is hoping that the WAR will not decimate his beautiful establishment, but the author has promised to behave.
Many thanks to Julio Pabón, and to Aurora Anaya-Cerda at the Casa Azul bookstore, for helping to plan this event.
